Creative Writing Group

CNLC celebrates the power of the written word for those who wish to learn to write poetry or short stories and those who are published. Delivered by experienced writer and tutor Tania Chandler.


Writers Workshop

Explore creative writing through practice and discussion. Suitable for writers confi­dent in their genre but open to development. You are welcome to bring your fi­ction, non-fi­ction or poems for discussion/feedback. Articles on writing skills, examples from some of the best writers as well as writing prompts provided.

Time:               1.30 – 3.30pm

Day:                 Monday

Cost:                $220 per term incl. GST


Creative Writing class

Learn and practise techniques and skills in the writing of fiction, memoir and poetry – suitable for all ages and skill levels. The atmosphere of the sessions is supportive and friendly. You will be guided and encouraged to write in the field you wish to pursue, be it a novel, short stories, flash-fiction, memoir or poetry.

Time:               5 – 7pm

Day:                Wednesday

Cost:               $220 per term incl. GST


Alive & Active Program

Explore your creativity through movement, voice work, art and more. For people of all abilities. This course can be taken alone or with the Community Lunch.
Times: Thursdays 1.30 – 2.30pm
Dates: Term 3 - 15th July - 20th September / Term 4 - 7th October - 13th December
Cost: $3 per session
Facilitator: Laura Stevenson


Carlton Morning Tea

A regular cuppa, refreshments and a chat, with fun games, gentle activities and occasional movies and outings. All Carlton Housing Estate seniors welcome.

Location:          530 Lygon st Community Hall

Carlton Community Website

Enrolments and bookings are needed for all community development classes and activities. You can enrol in person, by email or over the phone. If you have a concession card please present it. Commencement depends on sufficient enrolments. Full fee payment is needed before commencing in a community development activity.  In cases of hardship, it is possible to negotiate payments.
